Frequently Asked Questions

Scheduling

  1. What day and time should I schedule my session?

We can schedule sessions every day, of the week, but I am less available Monday through Friday during the day. My favorite time to shoot is within 2 hours of sunrise and sunset. Wait, did you say sunrise? I am always after the best light and these are the times that nature provides it. This being said, I will do my best to accommodate any time that works best for you.

  1. How far in advance should I schedule a session?

It is never too early to get on the calendar. I am usually booked 3-5 weeks in advance. Spring and fall are particularly popular times of year.

  1. How do I schedule a newborn session?

Once you know you would like to work with me, we reserve time on the calendar. After the baby is born, we pick the exact day and time of the session. My preference is to photograph newborns within the first couple weeks, but I am flexible. Newborn sessions typically last 2-4 hours with lots of breaks.

  1. What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

Rescheduling is generally not a problem. We will find a new session date that works for both of us at no charge. I do ask for a $100 deposit to hold your initial date. If you would like to cancel and prefer not to reschedule, I unfortunately cannot return your deposit.

  1. Can I hire you to shoot my pet, wedding, party, etc.?

We can talk about your project and if I think it is right for both of us, game on! If not, I'll recommend some great folks to help you out.

Session Information

  1. What can I expect during the session?

My goal is to create a relaxed and fun experience while capturing genuine emotion. I find it best to let kids be kids, and will spend time interacting and playing with them to draw this out. I can shoot on location, at your home, in a park or a fun urban location.  I primarily use natural light.

  1. Should we bring anything with us?

A blanket to sit on can be handy - especially with babies. A special toy that inspires play (balls, bubbles, balloons) can also bring out some great moments with kids. If you have any props or ideas that you would like to use, please let me know and I would work with you to realize your vision. I also recommend having some non messy snacks and a drink on hand. Unless getting messy is the idea - ice cream anyone?!

  1. What if it rains?

If the weather is not cooperative, we will either move the shoot indoors or reschedule. I will contact you the day before our session if weather looks bad.

After the Session

  1. How soon can I see the photos?

Images will be uploaded to your private online gallery within 3-4 weeks of the session. Print delivery will vary depending on items purchased.

  1. How many photos will I see and get to keep?

I select and edit the best images from our session, a minimum of 20-30 images. You get all these as high resolution jpeg files.

  1. Will the images be in color or black & white?

I usually provide a mix of color and black & white images, and I will edit the image depending on what best suits the photo. If you have a preference, please let me know.

  1. Do you offer prints?

Yes! You can order prints right from your personal online gallery using my pro lab. Contact me for more information.
